Meet the Counselor - Mrs. Durr - Felicia Durr - Natchez-Adams School District

Mrs. Durr has been a school counselor since 2004. She grew up in Brookhaven, MS. She went to college at Alcorn State University, the University of Tennessee and Delta State University. She majored in Sociology/Social Work(BA); Social Work (MS) and Guidance and Counseling (MS and Ed.S.).

Mrs. Durr is a huge Alcorn State University fan where lifelong friendships were made and her educational foundation was laid. During her free time, Mrs. Durr enjoys traveling and spending time with family and friends.

Mrs. Durr's favorite days at school are the first day - there is so much excitement in the air as a new year begins; and the last day-there is so much excitement in the air as the year ends!

All classes K-4 receive Counseling Lessons. We learn about conflict resolution, getting along, making smart decisions, working with a team, and much more.

Small group counseling provides a supportive environment for students to express their thoughts and feelings about particular topics with their peers. These groups are generally short term. Groups are created based on data and parent or teacher referrals.

Parent Referrals

How can I refer my child to the counselor?

Parents, teachers and students can make referrals by phone, in writing, or in person. Students can request to see the counselor and/or stop by my office. When referred, students are seen individually or in a small group. Usually, the student and counselor work together to establish an individual goal related to the student's initial concern. While confidentiality is an inherent part of the counseling relationship, children are encouraged to share with parents.

Information will be kept confidential unless disclosure is required to prevent clear and imminent danger to the student or others, or when legal requirements (court order) demand that confidential information be revealed.
