Morgantown Middle School had a lot of awarding to do Thursday morning. Counselors and teachers gave out dozens of certificates to outstanding students as friends, family, and school staff all crowded into the auditorium.
Department awards for students who excelled academically in various subject areas and categories for most improved, leadership, service and citizenship were presented. Several students in both 7th and 8th grade made numerous trips to the front of the room as their names were called.
During closing remarks, Morgantown Principal Shemekia Rankin reminded the 7th graders of the growth her soon to be 9th-grade students made this year. “This morning, we’re recognizing those students who have demonstrated excellence in the classroom or displayed good citizenship throughout the school year,” said Rankin. I hope and wish for all of you the very best life has to offer. You should always be looking to do better and focus on preparing yourselves for high school. At next years’ program, I’d like to see more students being awarded.”
Guests and students were treated to cake and punch after the ceremony.
