Pep rally, basketball game prepares Morgantown students for test time

Morgantown March Madness

submitted by Monica King, Morgantown 8th Grade Counselor

The event was held on Tuesday, April 23rd in our gym!
It began with a jigging contest hosted by 2011 NHS graduate, DeMichael Queen, affectionately known as “DeMike”. DeMike encouraged the students to keep the same energy they displayed during the pep rally when they take their state tests.
The main event was our staff/student basketball game. Playing for the staff, was Josh West, Antonio Benson, Kenny Ray Evans, Robert Campbell, and Michael Brown. On the student team, was Elvis Jenkins, Terell Penro, Michael Williams, DeMarco Blanton, Traylon Minor, Kendale Reynolds, Treveyon Coach, and Tyler Lyles. The students defeated the staff by a score of 32-15. The game was officiated by our parent volunteer, Mr. Paul Perry. Principal Shemekia Rankin led the students in a chant yelling “328”! 328 is the number of points Morgantown needs to achieve a “C” rating. We will reach our goal. 328! It’s not too late.
